The majority of actors move to LA with the following game plan: do a mailing, get an agent, book a job. Most wind up sorely disappointed, learning they've only touched upon the tip of the iceberg. As actors, the focus is placed on learning the craft, which is undoubtedly essential. The reason so many actors begin to flounder, however, is that they never learn the "business" side of the business. And it truly is a business. Once an actor feels their craft is solid and they are ready to get themselves in front of industry professionals, they need a safe place to do so.

Your consultant is there to guide you in the right direction, inform you, and help you build a game-plan to increase your exposure while you are simultaneously learning and continuing your education as an actor. The prescreening

We have built a solid reputation for consistently presenting our industry guest instructors with the most skilled and professional actors in town. We therefore require a thorough prescreening of all of our clients. A screening which begins on the telephone, based primarily on determining whether or not the actor is treating their acting career as a business rather than a fantasy. Act Now! works with all different levels of talent, and groups them together as such. If, after interviewing an actor over the phone, we feel as if we'd be a good match, a thorough reading is scheduled in our office. The reading consists of commercial, comedic, and dramatic copy. This meeting is to get you started as an Act Now! client and takes about an hour. Because our emphasis at Act Now! is based on individual relationships with our clients as we help them to achieve their goals, we are only interested in working with actors who see the value and benefit of continuing their education learning from industry professionals while networking as a long term process, and are in it for the long haul.
