Helon Snowden, fondly known to some industry friends as “Hell on Wheels,” began acting at the age of four with her first theatrical production, “Annie” (near good ole Hickory , North Carolina ). Growing-up in a southern region that embraces the arts, Helon performed in more than 30 theatrical productions while studying dance, piano, and voice.
After contemplating a career as a cardiologist, Helon opted to replace her aspirations of using the “heart paddles” with the endearing phrase of “places everyone!” She earned a bachelor’s degree from Shenandoah Conservatory and studied in New York with the School of Film and Television.
Within months upon graduation, Helon steered her little ’97 GMC Jimmy across 3,000 miles (3 days & 4 hours), leaving behind the comfort of breakfast grits and fried green tomatoes, arriving in the land of “fruits and nuts.” Settling in her first studio, Helon soon signed with an agent who shared some honest words: “You’ve got great training and talent, but so what? There are 450 casting directors in LA and plenty of other 5’ 3” blondes. No one knows you—and it’s going to be hard to get your name out there…”
So the agent referred Helon to Act Now!.
When not involved with the arts, Helon enjoys reading—everything from the Bible and John Grisham to Nicholas Sparks and J.K. Rowling. A passionate dog lover, Helon volunteers for the SPCA or Labs & Buddies and she is the proud owner of a hyper Border Collie.
