Dufflyn Lammers grew up in Palo Alto, C.A. (Go S.F. Giants!) and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. Dufflyn started her career in the entertainment business as a journalist. While working for Morris News Service in Savannah, GA she interviewed many artists including: Clint Eastwood, Kevin Spacey, Laura Shaine Cunningham, Adrian Piper, Widespread Panic, Robert Altman, Jeffrey McDaniel and Pearl Cleage.
It was in Savannah that Dufflyn (who is now totally and completely weirded out by referring to herself in the third person) began performing in poetry slam. She first appeared at the National Poetry Slam in 1999 on the only Georgia team. The following year she founded the Savannah Literary Festival and brought Poetry Slam to Savannah. She published poems in small magazines like Iowa Woman and was anthologized in SLAM: The Competitive Art of Performance Poetry, 2000, Manic D Press.
She began taking acting classes to become more adept at performing her poetry and fell in love with the craft. In 2001 she moved back to California and studied privately with Stephen Book. She founded and hosted the Los Feliz poetry slam team, first at the Tamarind theatre (now UCB) and later at the Formosa Café in Hollywood. (In the small world of poetry slam she would be know as the “SlamMaster” of that team) Her team competed in the National Poetry Slam three years running. In 2003 she performed her poem Single Life on Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on HBO. The following year she appeared in the DVD release of BELLY from Artisan Films, on ABC Television’s EYE ON L.A., and she became the voice of the Baja Fresh “Spoken Word Radio” campaign.
Lammers recorded her spoken word CD The Heart of The Matter in 2006 and has now brought her unique style of “page-to-stage” poetry to Universities from Smith College to UC Irvine, from Roger Williams University to Simmons College from Cal State Fullerton to Colby Sawyer College.
Dufflyn has been a consultant at Act Now since 2004 and she loves her job! She finds it rewarding to watch her clients grow and succeed. She appeared on Criminal Minds in 2007, and will appear next on Entourage when the show returns in September. Her first feature, PROUD AMERICAN will be released in Sept., 2008. Between workshops, she still finds time to write. She has just completed her first book, a memoir entitled: DRIVE, a love story.
She likes cheese.
A lot.
