Act Now Member Contract

Act Now is a talent training service. This is not a talent agency contract. Only a talent agent licensed pursuant to section 1700.5 of the labor code may engage in the occupation of precutting, offering, promising, or attempting to procure employment or engagements for an artist. Act Now is prohibited by law from offering or attempting to obtain auditions or employment for you. It may only provide you with training and counseling. For more information, consult chapter 4.5 (commencing with section 1701) of part 6 of division 2 of the labor code. A dispute arising over of the performance of the contract by the talent service that is not resolved to the satisfaction of the artist should be referred to a local consumer affairs department or local law enforcement, as appropriate. You may cancel this contract and obtain a full refund, without any penalty or obligation, if notice of cancellation is given, in writing, within 10 business days from the above date or the date which you commence utilizing the services under the contract, whichever is longer. For purposes of this section, business days are Monday through Friday. After 10 days, cancellations are prohibited. THIS IS NOT A JOB INTERVIEW OR AUDITION. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PRESENCE OF A CASTING DIRECTOR IS ABSOLUTELY NOT AGUARANTEE OR PROMISE OF EMPLOYMENT. I FURTHER UNDERSTAND THAT THE INTENT OF THIS CLASS IS SOLELY EDUCATIONAL.

Rules and Policies

  • All industry guests, projects they are working on, and workshop dates are subject to change.
  • You must bring a picture and resume to every workshop, stapled!
  • If management approves a deposit on a workshop, payment in full must be received two weeks prior to the workshop start date. Otherwise you will be pulled out of the workshop and you will receive an Act Now credit for the deposit amount.
  • Act Now! Is not responsible for articles lost or left in a studio. Actors participate at their own risk and are held responsible for any damage caused by them to themselves, others and/or property.
  • Loitering and rehearsing in the main hallway is strictly forbidden. We share the floor with our neighbors and must be respectful of this. If you are caught rehearsing in the hallway you will be asked to leave and lose your spot in the workshop.
  • When coming to a workshop, you are required to be here 15 minutes to one-half hour before your workshop begins. Otherwise you will lose your spot in the workshop and will not be granted a credit. The only exception is if you call and leave us a message or speak to your consultant ahead of time so we can make arrangements to pull your picture for the workshop. If, however, you have called and you are more than twenty minutes late for your workshop, you will be allowed into the workshop but you will not be allowed to perform.
  • If Act Now! or an Act Now! guest changes a workshop date(s) and you are signed up for that particular workshop and cannot make the date change and you have called back within the R.S.V.P time limit, you will receive and Act Now! credit for the amount that you paid for only the date(s) that was changed or cancelled. This Act Now! credit can be applied to a future Act Now! workshop(s) for up to one year from the date of the cancellation.
  • Act Now! credit is good for up to one year and may only be transferred twice.
  • To receive credit for a one-nighter, full day, intensive workshop, you need to give 2 weeks’ advance notice.
  • If you receive a full refund under the refund policy you will then be charged a 50% restocking fee. If services have already been rendered (you have participated in an Act Now workshop), you will be charged a 100% restocking fee. There is a 4-6 week processing time for all refunds.
  • There are no credits allowed within the intensive workshops.
  • If Act Now! or an Act Now! guest cancels a workshop or a single night(s) of a workshop without rescheduling, and you are signed up for that particular workshop, you will receive an Act Now! credit equal to the amount that you paid for that workshop or that night(s) of the workshop that was cancelled. This credit can be applied to a future Act Now! workshop(s) for up to one year from the date of cancellation.
  • Returned checks and chargeback’s are subject to a $40.00 service charge.
